REGARDING the story in Tea Break headlined "Macbeth is up for auction" (Evening News, September 15) it may interest your readers to know that John Hemmings was christened at St Peter' Church, Droitwich. The entry in the records read:
"John Hemyings (spelled many ways), son of George Hemyngs, was baptised the 25th day of November Anno p'dictor (for Anno Praedicto) which means in the aforesaid year i.e. 1556.
According to the photostatic reproduction of the Parish Register of Droitwich (catalogue 416689) John Hemying was baptised in 1566.
He lived in Droitwich until his schooldays were over and then went to live at Shottery, Stratford-on-Avon.
