REGARDING the unfortunate people who are regularly flooded out of their homes and suffering raw sewage in their gardens and homes, there can be no excuse from the agencies responsible that are not yet carrying out sufficient remedial works.
On the Thames, which is a tidal river, I believe they have non-return cover on the outlets to stop water flowing back up the drains.
However, it has to be considered that the money may not be available for such schemes locally for flood relief grants - previously £22m shared between 54 authorities - were cut by the present government to £14m.
