A FUSION between the styles of six of the top musicians from different fields comes to Worcester's Huntingdon Hall next month in the form of multi-talented Luke Daniels.

Histories Rhyme is the latest project from Luke, a composer, vocalist and accordion player whose first album Tarantella was nominated for Album of the Year Award by BBC Radio 2 when he was just 19.

The name of the band, he says, comes from a Seamus Heaney poem and reflects his traditional Irish musical background. He began playing the bodhran at an early age and played in a ceilidh band before learning accordion. He cites his early musical start and his parents' encouragement as big factors in his musical development and current standing.

"My parents were massively influential," he said, "but my influences were all traditional Irish until I was about 17. I used to play classical music in bars, I was a sort of accordion freak boy playing Paganini and Bach. I didn't really get going until I got into jazz, Miles Davis and John Coltrane."

The other members of Histories Rhyme are renowned bassist Alec Dankworth, concert pianist Jean Paul Gandy, internationally acclaimed drummer Brian Abrahams, clarinettist and saxophonist Ben Castle, son of Roy, and acoustic guitarist Clive Carroll.

Histories Rhyme are at Huntingdon Hall on Thursday, September 27. For tickets, ring 01905 611427.
