THE remnants of Worcester Nomads' First eleven went down without a fight on Saturday and had no answer to the physical strength and diatribe of the league leaders Kington.

Unfortunately Nomads resorted to the unusual and highly doubtful tactic of bowling all ten fielders for five overs each.

Thus Nomads ended a season which was notable for the dedication and hard work of an outstanding youth section balanced by some very mixed performances from most of the senior team.

The Kington total of 405 was easily the highest ever recorded against Nomads since that Club was founded 74 years ago and it would be interesting to know if a larger score has been achieved over 50 overs in the County.

At least Nomads did manage to bowl out Kington in the last over and as a bonus may have discovered a new bowler for next season's new captain.

On Sunday the two senior teams did show off the talent within the club by defeating Crowle and going close to victory at Weoley Hill.

In the latter match Malcolm Jones (126no) and James Watkins (40) scored 140 for the second wicket and this enabled Gerry Kelly to declare at 200-2.

Richard Watkins, Kieran Rees, Darren Lakin, Tim Kite and James Massey shared the eight wickets that fell in the Weoley Hill score of 138.

At Bransford Crowle struggled to score quickly during the early overs but some excellent hitting by the Millington family took the innings to a respectable 163-7 before the declaration came.

Nomads quickly lost both openers but then John Dimond (62no) and Richard James (60) found the gaps to reach a partnership of 111. Anthony Massey scored the winning runs with a rapid 19no.

Nomads season ends with three friendly fixtures against Bidford on Avon, Overbury and Broadwas.
