IN an entertaining game there was only one team really in it, the Seagulls, who gave Upton a hard start to the season.

MALVERN SEAGULLS 39pts, UPTON 12pts

In the first half Malvern kicked down hill with the wind and straight away they put the pressure on Upton. Good pack work from B Williams, C Demeda, M Calvert and not forgetting the oldest number eight around Chris Morton who allowed their outstanding backs to move the ball around and to score a quick try in the opening five minutes. This pressure carried on for much of the first half with Malvern scoring another four tries. Upton then came back in the last five minutes to score a try.

In the second half Malvern sat back but good work from I Budd and A Sunter enable B Lyons to get the backs up the hill for another try.

Upton came back with one of their centres running half the length of the field past a flagging Malvern defence.
