WORCESTER City go into tomorrow's Dr Martens Premier Division clash with King's Lynn at St George's Lane (3pm) desperately looking for a win following three draws in their last four matches.

But they face a strong challenge against the Linnets who have conceded just eight goals and have not lost on the road this season.

However Tony Spearing's side have proved a lucky omen for City in the past, having lost just once in the last 10 league meetings between the two sides, but the visitors themselves are unbeaten in their last five matches.

City boss, John Barton, is not taking anything for granted despite their track record against the Linnets.

"We drew twice last season so it should be well balanced," he said. "With their defensive record and ours it should be an interesting game."

Full-back Allan Davies, who has recovered from a knee injury to take his place in the side after missing five matches, admits the result is more important than the performance.

"When we went to Ilkeston Town that was the same principle and now it's the same for Saturday," he said.

"Everybody wants to play well every game but sometimes the result is more important and it is desperate we get the three points on Saturday."

Despite the frustration of throwing three points away at Folkestone and drawing at home to Kettering, which have dropped them to 13th in the table, Davies is well aware that a run of results can catapult City back up the league.

"Looking at the league table we are not a million miles away which is the most important thing," he added.

"Any team that gets two or three victories on the bounce is straight back in there and we need three points on Saturday to turn the result against Kettering into an even better one."

Barton echoed the views of his summer signing from Burton Albion.

"We need three points," he said. "If we win then the points from the drawn games have more of an impact but you do need to win to back up the draws otherwise you start slipping behind.

"After 10 games the league starts to take shape so from our point of view we need the three points to be up there."

Midfielder Ian Cottrill, who scored City's goal against Kettering, is now in fifth place in City's all-time appearance chart.

He has now played 424 games, with his nearest rival being John McGrath on 466.
