WORCESTER City manager John Barton is looking to striker Mark Owen to shoot his 100th goal for the club and grab three points into the bargain when his side entertain King's Lynn at St George's Lane tomorrow.

The prolific forward needs just two goals to record a century of strikes and become the ninth City player to achieve the feat topped by John Inglis with 189 goals from 324 games.

Owen has struck 98 goals from 175 but will need a few more hat-tricks if his strike rate is to be compared to Harry Knowles (1956/62) who had 146 from 200 appearances and Alec Hair (1932/34) with 126 from 88.

Barton has impressed with Owen's form this season which has already seen him score 11 times.

"This year his appetite and enthusiasm have been first class and he's got himself into good shape and we are also seeing the benefits of him playing alongside Phil Stant," he said.

"Mark has been a consistent goalscorer for City and it would be great for him to get the two goals he needed in front of his home supporters and also give us three points."
