THE seventh Malvern Autumn Garden and Country Show takes place next weekend with the promise of everything the garden enthusiast could want to see, smell or taste.

There may not be the usual livestock exhibits in the wake of the foot and mouth crisis but organisers, the Three counties Agricultural Society, have made up for that by including every conceivable horticultural attraction.

The show, at the Three Counties Showground, will be the last chance to see the 5,000 square metres of first-class foliage from this year's Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show. Everything from acers, dahlias and sweet peas to heathers, hederas and hostas will be on display while experts from the RHS will offer hints and tips on the best ways to grow them.

Sharon Gilbert, press officer for the Three Counties Agricultural Society, said: "This show is always a favourite. It's very popular with families as there's something for everyone.

"It's also one of our favourites at the Society, because it's such a diverse show with such a lot going on.

"A lot of people leave saying they've learnt something, it's very educational as well as being a lot of fun."

The UK Wolf Conservation Trust returns with its pack of North American and European wolves. Heavy horses, dogs, rabbits, cavies, poultry ferrets and birds of prey will also be on show.

A cookery theatre will aim to inspire with local chefs Jill Bunn and Kevin Capper, assisted by the stars of Radio 4's The Archers. They will be cooking up a feast of dishes using ingredients from 60 regional food producers in the event's popular Festival of Food and Wine.

Act such as Tom and Tilly Turnip's Tomfoolery, Kangeroo Gymnastics display team, Paws for Thought dog agility team and Toy City will among the entertainment.

The show also includes a tribute to Malvern woodsmen, the late Reg Smith and George Ruff, who worked with the Three Counties Agricultural Society for many years. A special seat will hand carved out of oak at the show and placed in their favourite spot in Langdale wood.

The show takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, from 9am to 6pm.
