SUNDAY, September 9 was a busy day in Dymock. The late Summer Show was a feast for the eyes with a large collection of glorious flowers brightening up the hall. As well as flowers there were vegetables of all sizes, cakes galore, jam, scones, sausage rolls etc. Then there were photos, pictures and two classes for the under 11's, there were only two entries for these, which was a pity, but they were both excellent.

There were a good number of people who came to look round and admire the display, to buy raffle tickets and have some tea. £93 was raised for the parish hall.

In the evening a concert took place in the church, the performers were students from Tewkesbury and Malvern schools and they gave us a good variety of music played on six different instruments with one singer. Our thanks go to all those who took part and to Bob May, who did most of the accompaniment and the organisation, he was helped by Ros Powell, who also played the cello. It was a most enjoyable evening and a large audience.

Fifteen members of Dymock Church made the journey to Pype Hayes on September 16 in a mini bus driven by Bob May, we had an excellent trip and arrived ten minutes before the service started. The church is a building of almost Cathedral proportions and was beautifully decorated for the harvest festival, the service also included time to think about the tragedy in America.

The lunch that followed was superb and we all met old and new friends. Later on we walked around part of the estate where 1,300 houses were condemned as unsafe because of interaction of the metal and concrete used in their construction. A large number have been replaced with brick built, very attractive housing of various sizes and types. The ground to the west of the church has now been converted to a paved area with the War Memorial and flag pole in the centre.

A huge tea awaited us on our return and discussion took place about our two parishes and their staffing, opportunities and needs. The visit ended with prayers in the Lady Chapel following the lines of the discussion.

It took a jump lead to set us on our way after a very friendly and enjoyable day. Many thanks to Bob for doing the driving and to all at Pype Hayes for their hospitality.
