This is a busy weekend for West Malvern Social Club, which is holding its monthly quiz evening tonight (Friday) at 8.45pm - individuals and teams welcome. Details from Nola Pearson on 753259. During the evening there will be a raffle to raise funds for the club's chosen charity for the year - last year £500 was raised for the church roof fund. Then tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a bring and buy sale at the club starting at 2pm, with a variety of stalls and refreshments.

After one of the most bountiful seasons for some years, harvest thanksgiving at St James's Church will take place on Sunday, October 7 in the form of a family festival service at 10.30am, which will be followed by an auction of produce in aid of missions and charities. Then at 12.30pm there will be a special harvest lunch at the West Malvern Royal British Legion Club in Lower Road, as a further effort to help raise funds for work on the church roof. The three-course lunch, with a glass of wine or soft drink, will cost £10 per adult. All are welcome - but please contact Richard Hammond on 893951 as soon as possible if you intend to come, to assist planning for the catering.

West Malvern Parish Council vice chairman Eric Hollands has been appointed as Worcestershire County Association of Local Councils' parish councils representative on the joint advisory committee of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Following last week's meeting of the Allotment Association, it appears likely a number of allotment plots, of varying sizes, at the site off Old Hollow will become available for re-letting at the end of the year. Anyone interested should contact parish clerk Catherine Campbell, telephone 575282. Priority is normally given to residents of the parish, but residents from elsewhere in Malvern are welcome to apply.

Finally, on Saturday, October 28, West Malvern Toddlers Club will be taking part in The World's Largest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief, at the village hall between 10am and noon.
