A MAN who was told to keep away from his ex-girlfriend was found at her Drakes Broughton home.

George Grant was ordered to abide by a restraining order made in April for three years.

But Droitwich magistrates heard yesterday that he had been in contact with Deborah Davies several times since then.

A police officer who dealt with the original case spotted Grant's car close to Ms Davies' house.

He confirmed with colleagues a restraining order was still in force and went to investigate.

"Mr Grant was then arrested," said Mark Soper, prosecuting.

"Ms Davies told police that since May he's been in regular contact by phone or visiting."

The couple had been in a two-year relationship before it broke down.

Grant had left his wife for her.

The court heard that 42-year-old Grant had been convicted of harassing Ms Davies earlier this year by magistrates in Redditch.

But Peter Jackson, defending, said it was Ms Davies who made contact with Grant.

"He doesn't accept that he's contacted her prior to this incident," he said.

"She had phoned him and contacted him by text messaging.

"She has initiated contact throughout. He's said he can't see her because of the orders in place."

Mr Jackson said Ms Davies had contacted the courts about lifting the order.

Grant had been walking in Drakes Broughton on Wednesday, September 19.

"They were outside the house talking about this when the police officers came round the corner," said Mr Jackson.

"She hasn't telephoned the police at all nor has anyone else."

Grant, of Shepherd's Pool, Evesham, admitted breaching of the restraining order.

The leisure centre manager was fined £200 and ordered to pay £118 court costs.
