A FREE disco designed to help keep Vale teenagers off the streets, is being planned next week at Evesham's public hall in Market Square.

The alcohol-free disco has been organised by Vibe Events. It is for children aged from 14 to 17-years-old and is due to take place on September 28.

Vibe director Paul Turner, who is a former Ibiza DJ, said: "The aim of the event is not only to provide young people a safe place to socialise and enjoy themselves on a fortnightly basis, but to bring them some of the best entertainment and theme nights. There will be personal star appearances from glow parties, foam parties and much more besides."

He said that the strict non-alcohol event aims to carry the message that teenagers can have a good time without getting drunk.

Paul added: "We want to make this a regular event although an entry fee will be charged at subsequent discos - there's not much for teenagers to do in the town at weekends.

"Our parties are a great success with teenagers but the outcome is always in their hands. If they have a good time and behave we would like to build this up to be a great event, however if they play up they'll lose it." Only soft drinks will be sold at the disco and qualified male and female security will search all teenagers on entry for any signs of alcohol.

A CCTV system will also be monitoring the discos. Entry is free with flyers which are available by calling Vibe on 079939 550 594 or by logging on to www.mad4vibe.co.uk.
