UNDER the inspirational leadership of captain Mike Humpston, Broadway's league team won their final match of the season against Forest Hills 4 and 2 and gain promotion back to Division One.

The introduction of the two Storey brothers, Ben and Jamie, had added a youthful dimension to the team and, with young Chris O'Hagan having played well in every match, the future looks bright.

With the summer now over a number of club knockout competitions have been concluded.

The Alexander Cup, a foursome competition for those with the handicaps of 12 and below, was won by Steve Gilks and Shaun Thornhill, who triumphed in a closely-fought final over Mike Everitt and Humpston.

The George Knight Trophy, foursomes for those with handicaps of 13 and over, saw Geoff Hands Dave Gabb overcome Mike Follett and Rod Ellis.
