THE UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE - U3A: Pershore and District U3A will hold a meeting next Tuesday at 2pm in the Civic Centre Committee Rooms. There will be a talk by Mr Colin Anstey of Anstey's Cheese in Kempsey on 'British Cheese' and reports from the various special interest groups. The U3A welcomes new members and visitors who are over 50 and who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

OPERATIC AND DRAMA SOCIETY (PODS): Are presenting a Gala Charity Concert on October 13. The Concert is being held at Pershore High School at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 each and all proceeds are in aid of the Pershore Theatre Arts Association. Tickets are available from Mrs M Sherwood 01386 750293 or at 'Blue' in Broad Street, or Maxine's Bookshop.

CHARITY DISCO - Proceeds to The Cobalt Appeal: Barry's Disco and Rockin Rooster presents a Charity Disco at Pershore Working Men's Club, High Street, Pershore. The Disco is being held on October 20, at 7.30pm until late. Refreshments and a raffle will be available and tickets are £3 each.

TWINNING ASSOCIATION: Members of Pershore Twinning Association are hosting school children from one of its Twin Town's. The Children, who are from Plouay will be visiting Pershore from October 19-22. PAINTING EXHIBITION: by Timothy Vivian is being staged in Pershore Abbey from September 8-29, with 60% of all sales from the exhibition going to support children in Africa who have been orphaned by Aids.

WORCESTERSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST: Commence their winter series talks on Thursday evening. Harry Green starts off the talks at St Wulstan's Hall, at 7.30pm with the Title Old Trees and Dead Wood which aims to open our eyes to the beauty and importance of the second oldest organisms living in the countryside, and also to the many animals who depend on the slow decay of the trees and old wood.

FILM AT NUMBER 8: Pershore and District Film Society, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Saturday and Sunday at 7.30pm.
