WORK on a new masterplan for Wyre Forest which aims to draw together all existing policies and strategies is being drawn up by the district council.

The move is in response to a Government initiative aimed at getting local authorities to develop one overall programme which addresses the needs of the public.

District council leader Mike Oborski said the strategy would pull together more than 30 existing policies and strategies drawn up by various council departments.

These would then be the subject of consultation with groups including members of the Citizen's Panel to ensure they met the priorities of service users, he said.

At the inaugural meeting of the council's executive committee, members agreed to set up a working group to develop the Community Strategy by next July, bring together representatives from the public, private, business, community and voluntary sectors to form a Local Strategic Partnership and develop a programme of public consultation and involvement.
