Tolladine Sports 2, Bishampton 0

BISHAMPTON suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of a powerful Tolladine Sports outfit.

Tolladine started with a strong wind at their backs and immediately put the visitors under pressure, but the Bish-ampton defence coped well with Rob Bille not seriously tested.

United's main problem was dealing with long throw-ins, and corner kicks as the wind made it difficult defending. It was from a flag kick that Keith Aingel headed in at the far post for Tolladine to take the lead after 27 minutes.

As the half wore on Bishamp-ton played their way into the game with Mark Taylor instrumental. Firstly, Taylor and Andrew Murphy set-up Rod Phillis who blasted the ball wide.

In the next attack Ian Hall broke into the penalty area only to see his shot saved by the outstretched legs of Dave Starkey in the home goal.

Bishampton were now put-ting sustained pressure on the Tolladine defence, and five minutes before the break Phillis went clear into the area and as he was about to shoot was upended by a defender, but unfortunately the referee let play continue. The visitors then spurned two more chances before half-time.

With the wind at their backs Bishampton were expected to continue to force Tolladine on to the back foot, but the home side started as they did the first, and were not under any serious pressure.

Bishampton almost equalised after 55 minutes when Tay-lor's shot forced Starkey into an acrobatic save.

The visitors then were fortunate themselves when Tolladine spurned two god chances. Simon Maddocks had a good chance at the other end of the pitch as the game opened up but his header was off target.

Tolladine virtually killed the game off ten minutes from time when Beck scored from close-range.
