Pershore Town 4, Massey Ferguson 3

SUBSTITUTE Paul Jones scored the winner in the sixth minute of injury time in Saturday's Midland Combination Premier Division match.

James Preece gave Town a third minute lead when he ran into the box from the left wing and drove the ball into the other side of goal.

Massey Ferguson got the equaliser in the 22nd minute. Town defenders appealed in vain for offside as Jez Carpenter ran clear to score with a low drive.

All-square after the break, Pershore were first to attack when a Paul Court cross was fumbled by Dave Wright, but he gathered at the second attempt to thwart striker Preece. Minutes later a lob by Dean Emerson was hit well over by Court.

Dave Innis saw his 65th minute low drive stopped on the line by Neil Turner but four minutes later the home keeper was helpless when Innis struck home from close-range to put Massey ahead.

Turner had to make a superb diving save to stop a Nick Hill header in the 72nd minute.

Town, however were on equal terms with nine minutes left after a rare good passing move ended with a Preece cross dropping for Simon Brain to fire in the equaliser.

Five minutes later an Emerson cross was nodded on by Joe Maidment for Jon Gregory to head Pershore in front.

In the first minute of injury-time Paul Charnley equalised with a fierce ten-yard drive.

Town substitute Richard Pincher provided the pass to Gregory who cleverly let the ball travel through his legs for Jones to fire in the winner from 15 yards.

The match was sponsored by L P Stephens Transport, Truro, Cornwall.

Three first half goals helped Pershore collect three more points when they travelled to Alvechurch on Tuesday night to face Kings Heath.

Using the slope to full advantage, Gregory, Brain and Preece all found the target before Cartwright's late strike only acted as consolation for the well beaten home side.

Pershore are back in FA Vase action on Saturday when Western League outfit Frome Town visit King George's (3pm). If the scores are level after 90 minutes, extra-time will be played.
