A HEROIN addict who refused to change his criminal behaviour has been given 18 months detention.
Kirk Carter, 20, of Hurcott Road, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to theft, attempting to pervert the course of justice and failing to surrender to bail.
He was made the subject of a drug treatment and testing order in June when he was said to be "a slave to heroin", Worcester Crown Court heard.
But Nigel Reader, prosecuting, said that he had since stolen jeans, grocery and kitchen equipment from Kidderminster stores.
He had also stolen computer games from shops in Worcester and Kidderminster and stereo and CD units from cars at a Kidderminster garage.
Recorder David Bright branded Carter "a criminal pest" and said he had spurned several opportunities to stop offending. The drug treatment and testing order was revoked because Carter had made little effort to comply with it.
