TV detector vans are hitting Wyre Forest streets in a clampdown on licence dodgers.
TV Licensing has urged viewers to buy a licence or face a court fine of up to £1,000.
Since January, 1,676 evaders have been caught in the DY postcode area, which covers Dudley, Tipton, Stourbridge and Wyre Forest.
TV Licensing Central and East regional manager Paul Johnston said: "This year 1,676 people who thought they could get away with it have already been proved wrong.
"If you don't have a valid licence, time is running out and it won't be long before the alarm bells start ringing.
"Remember that each inquiry officer catches, on average, one evader every working hour - so the net is tightening around those evaders who are left."
Anyone with problems paying their licence should call the customer helpline on 08705 763763.
