Richards has won 12 out of the 15 matches he has contested, landing 1,658lb of fish, an average of 109lb a match, with a bait bill of under £10.

The Winter League starts on October 13 and there are three places left for teams of four.

The Ultimate League's first semi-final will be on Tuesday, October 9.

The top 30 in the league on September 30 will qualify.
