JUDO: Emmy Kimberley made a stunning return to form to take the gold medal at the Lakeland Open in Kendal.
In a superb tactical performance, Kimberley disposed of a series of national squad members, all black belts, on her way to the final.
The 15-year-old brown belt member of Kidderminster's Samurai Judo Club looked sharp and focused as each of her opponents were beaten by maximum-point scores.
In the final, Kimberley scored several times before throwing the girl for maximum points.
Another Samurai lady, black belt Louise Dunne, was on the other side of the north of England at the Stockton Open.
Dunne looked on target for the gold medal before falling ill and having to settle for bronze.
In the junior section of the same competition, Benji Connor won a series of contests to also win a bronze.
Another promotion for Rod Lane's Friday night session saw Joanne Butcher graded to junior yellow belt just two weeks after her father reached the same colour at senior level.
Christian Vivash was also promoted to top red belt, just one grade below Butcher.
