FANS will be hoping Colin Larkin is the man to install some much-needed bite into their forward line.

The 19-year-old Irishman has joined the club on a month's loan from First Division neighbours Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Larkin made a handful of first team appearances in previous seasons and has netted three times in four reserve appearances already this term.

But Larkin, brought in by manager Molby to play the pacey Ian Foster role up front due to the striker's slower-than-anticipated return to form after injury, had little chance to make an impact against Plymouth.

He was replaced by towering target-man Drewe Broughton at half-time.

"I got a knock in training yesterday - I got a bit of a dead leg and it was still very sore this morning," the Molineux man said after the game.

"I was warming up before the game and the physio gave me some treatment for it.

"I didn't feel too bad for 30 to 35 minutes but there's no way I could have carried on after that."

The 2,801 Aggborough attendance was not quite the magic 3,000 desired by chairman Lionel Newton but still made a difference to Larkin, used to plying his trade in front of sparse reserve crowds.

He said: "It's a much better in a way because the crowd try to get behind you and get you going. It's a lot easier playing in front of a crowd, actually."

And the youngster, whose best chance in his 45 minutes came when he scuffed his shot in the area following a Dean Bennett cross from the left, declared himself impressed with his new team mates.

Larkin added it was "just a matter of luck" before the results start to come.

All of which could point to an extended loan spell: "Dave Jones (Wolves boss) said that, after the month, if I wanted to stay for another couple of months it's entirely up to me.

"But if Wolves get injuries I might get called back."
