TWO stalwarts of the Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society are working together for the third time on a production of The Mikado for the society.

The colourful show will be staged next March, 100 years after the society first staged the popular Gilbert and Sullivan spectacular.

It was in 1982 that Sheila Cook and Lila Bailey first worked together on the EODS Mikado.

Mrs Cook said: "I was then the producer and Mrs Bailey was the musical director.

"In the 1998 version, Mrs Bailey was producer and musical director and I built the stage."

She added: "Now we are coming back together for the third time - I am the producer and Mrs Bailey the musical director - and hopefully we are going to make a big success of it."

Mrs Cook said costumes for the show were being borrowed from neighbouring PODS and added: "It is very much a local production.Gilbert and Sullivan has always been popular with Evesham audiences."

EODS members are being invited to attend a read through on October 2 and to go through the musical parts on October 3. Auditions are due to be held on November 4 at the arts centre, Evesham.
