MEMBERS of the Royal Air Forces Association took to the streets of Kidderminster at the weekend for an annual parade marking Britain's "finest hour".

RAFA members together with men and women from other ex-service organisations paraded through the town on Sunday in memory of those who died in the Battle of Britain. ex-servicemen and women at the annual Battle of Britain parade.

The parade mustered at New Road before marching to St Mary and All Saints Church where there was a service by the war memorial and a shorter service inside the church.

The parade then set off back to New Road where the salute was received by the mayors of Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport. Mayor of Kidderminster Councillor John Stevens lays a wreath at the memorial outside St Mary and All Saints Church.

Bryan Jarvis, general secretary of the Kidderminster branch of RAFA, said the association was pleased with the turnout at the parade which had gone well.

But he said the group, which has about 300 members and associate members, was in "inevitable" decline as those members, who averaged 75 or more years, died.

"We cannot get new members," he said. "We're facing the inevitable."
