ON-SONG Stourport Swifts produced some of their best football yet before Saturday's FA Cup tie, according to assistant boss Gary Whild.

Swifts impressed in the first half against county rivals Redditch on Tuesday as they followed up Saturday's 2-0 league success over Gresley with a 2-1 victory.

Whild declared Dr Martens Western Division Swifts are full of confidence for their FA Cup first qualifying round visit to Lincoln United.

He said: "I felt sorry for the players against Redditch that they didn't score more because their performance in the first half was as good as I have seen at Stourport.

"But we got the result and showed a bit of character to get the winner after conceding an equaliser which the players didn't deserve.

"Our start has been far better than we could have anticipated. It's good to see that with three or four players missing, the team hasn't been affected in any way."

Swifts' summer signings appear to have mixed in well with Tuesday's victory moving the club into the top seven.

Quentin Townsend, Steve Ulfig and Anthony Davies are still suspended but midfielder Tim Nicholls returns from his honeymoon for Saturday.

The fitness of Wille Dunn (knee), Alex Cowley (knee) and Dave Davies (hip) will be checked at training tonight.

Whild added: "All we can do is get ourselves organised for the Lincoln match and if we give a good account of ourselves, we should be there or thereabouts.

"It will be a tough match but we are full of confidence. A big incentive is the £7,500 we could get by winning."
