PENSIONERS in Worcestershire and Herefordshire are being urged to claim for a winter cash boost.
Most people have their £200 cash boost paid automatically but they are being warned they should check now, to ensure they don't miss out.
Last year, 148,000 payments were made to older people in the two counties, giving an extra £21.5m to help pay for fuel bills.
This week, is the qualifying week for winter fuel payments and the pensions minister, Ian McCartney, says people should not miss out.
"Over 60s who want to keep warm shouldn't have to worry about paying the biggest heating bill of the year," he said.
"Millions of people over the last four winters have welcomed the comfort and security these payments bring."
He said that some people who have not claimed before, or those who have moved house, should check whether they will receive the payment.
Anyone who wants more information should call the winter Fuel Payments helpline on 08459 151515.
