There were four main speeches during the evening. Alan Young gave a speech entitled 'Your Life in their Hands' where he explained the importance of the Jury Service.
This was followed by a speech entitled 'Friends' where Lia Beddow gave an account of her visit to Kosovo to refurbish a children's home. Susan Young gave an amusing speech entitled 'The Elixir of the Gods' about the vocabulary used to describe fine wines.
The final speech was given by Dave Cockle. Entitled 'Must Have' it related the fact that men must often buy the latest gadget even if it has absolutely no use at all.
The speeches were evaluated by members of the club and helpful suggestions made to improve the speech making.
