DROITWICH Spa Cricket Club completed their Worcestershire County League Division One campaign in fine style on Saturday.

They comfortably beat Pershore by seven wickets and leapfrogged them into third place. Spa elected to field first on a bouncy seaming track.

Despite the loss of one early wicket, Pershore were handily placed at 40-1.

However, change bowlers Karl Goddard and Paul Bryan slowed things down and took wickets to turn the game Droitwich's way.

When young seamer Mike Rogers returned to dismiss Pershore's most dangerous player Oxley for 49, Spa were destined to chase no more than 100. But stubborn resistance took the visitors up to 128 before Goddard returned to complete the innings, finishing with excellent figures of 4-10 to go with a breathtaking catch. Seamer Gary Cartwright also bowled well, but with no luck.

Droitwich started at their usual brisk rate with both Duggan and Ford looking to play shots.

At 60-3 Pershore had an outside chance, but Wesley Euley (59 not out) and Nigel Haddock (20 not out) eased Spa home with more than 20 overs to spare. Euley finished with the outstanding statistic of averaging over 100 in the league and all wish him well back in South Africa this winter.
