OLYMPIC triple jump star Ashia Hansen was the guest of honour at Droitwich Spa High School Specialist Sports College on Friday.
Ashia opened the new £220,000 all-weather athletics track on the school site.
The facility, which boasts a six-lane 400 metre track with additional jumping, throwing and teaching areas, will be used by the Droitwich pyramid of schools, the Spa community and people in Wychavon.
Headteacher Mr Cledwyn-Davies said: "We were very proud to attract a world class athlete in Ashia Hansen to open our new athletics track.
"It is superb to see the area now has a quality athletics facility after so many years."
