DEAR EDITOR - I read with disgust that the vote taken by people in Droitwich Spa in support of a supermarket has been rejected in favour of what the councillors want - more houses.

There are no facilities as such here now and people do go out of town to shop.

Years ago this rarely happened. We had local councillors like messrs Harrison, Bourne, Evans, Fibruus etc. whose main issue was what they could do for the good of the town and its citizens.

Crime was rarely heard of, there were youth clubs for the young people, the lido where they spent their leisure hours especially the school holidays. Years ago season tickets were available.

Now the youth have nothing.

I hear people who have moved to the area over the last years, criticising our town repeatedly saying how it has changed and not for the better.

Comments "locals" do not like to hear, but which are nevertheless true.
