A WINYATES man has had a two-year anti-social behaviour order placed on him after Redditch magistrates received a 200-page document containing more than 70 witness statements.

The order was made against Shaun Timbrell, 21, of Kinnersley Close, following reports of spitting, alcohol being given to youngsters, bottles thrown and smashed and racial abuse against shopkeepers in the Winyates area.

The order, brought to court by West Mercia Constabulary and supported by Redditch Council, means Timbrell is not allowed to use or encourage others to use foul, threatening and abusive language, gestures or behaviour in any public place in the town.

He is not allowed to cause harassment or distress to people in Redditch, particularly in connection with bullying, spitting, kicking or throwing balls against others' premises.

And he must not enter Winyates centre other than for pre-arranged appointments.

Neil Campbell, on behalf of the applicant, said incidents involving Timbrell were almost exclusively contained in the Winyates area.

He said at some locations, such as the dentist, he reduced a girl to tears by intimidating her.

Ian McLachlan, defending, said Timbrell accepted his behaviour was 'not all it could have been' but had behaved himself for about a year.

Redditch police are gathering evidence on a number of other individuals in the area.
