SUPERBIKES champ Jason Wilshaw finished the Classics Club Post Classics Series with a flourish at Cadwell Park.

The Callow Hill ace was runner-up in the prestigious Race of the Year 2001 on Sunday after confirming his championship status with third in the final race of the season the day before.

Wilshaw had already been crowned champion in what he insists is his final full season, and went into the meeting with an unassailable 31 point lead.

An annoying ignition problem meant Wilshaw qualified for the championship race seventh but he climbed the field to finish third, where he automatically started on the grid for the Race of the Year.

With sponsors looking on, Wilshaw was runner-up in a tough lineup featuring a number of Continental riders guesting in the event.
