SUPERBIKER Andy Tinsley says he is prepared to compete at the new Rockingham circuit despite safety fears from the works riders.

A number of influential riders in the British Superbikes Championship demanded a switch of venues claiming the new venue, which incorporates an Indy Car-style oval is too dangerous.

Sections of the circuit, which Tinsley has tested on, have a concrete wall bordering the circuit rather than a gravel run off, prompting calls for a switch to Silverstone or Thruxton.

But superbikes bosses dismissed the claims and are prepared to forge ahead at the new venue.

But Dave Worthington, manager of the Redditch-based Team Legs 11 said he was happy for a switch even if his rider Kelvin Reilly was ready for Rockingham.

Legs 11 rider Reilly came in 14th at Mallory Park after a weekend dogged by the now-familiar problems.

A suspected suspension problem in qualifying ended up with the clutch blowing up and saw Reilly start on the back row in 21st on Sunday before climbing the field and finishing in the points.

Tinsley was frustrated despite finishing ninth when the race was abandoned because of a crash three quarters of the way through.
