BROMSGROVE'S famous faces featured in a fundraising tribute to a young man who died in a factory accident earlier this year.

Around 200 townspeople turned out for the charity event held at Newton Works, in Newton Road, Aston Fields.

Kelvin Hughes, aged 26, from Great Barr, in Birmingham, died on July 4 while working at United Engineering Forgings (UEF) formerly Garringtons at Aston Fields.

Friends and colleagues of Kelvin's from the plant organised the event to raise funds for the County Air Ambulance which airlifted him to hospital.

Although Kelvin died, his fellow workers still wanted to show their gratitude for the efforts made to try to save his life.

Singer Eloise from Aston Fields who featured on Jane McDonald's BBC show Star for a Night, performed alongside Dave Price, Soul Train and soft rock act Andi Zapp.

The show on Saturday September 8 raised £1,230 and all stars made complementary appearances. A raffle also helped to boost funds.

Air ambulance area co-ordinator Jenny Ashman said: "It is heart-warming at a time like this that people can do something constructive to help others."

Event organiser Mick Ball presented the cheque to Jenny Ashman on Monday.

Funds will go directly towards buying a new helicopter for the county.
