MOORLANDS Farm was the setting for the Starlets Veterans Tuesday contest, which was held on the Middle and Moors pools. And it was Alvechurch's Ken Giles who took first place by pole fishing casters at Moors peg 14 for 56-4-0. Lady Angler Pat Kavanagh (Stourbridge) continued her good run with a second placed 42-13-0, third Ken Hall (Northfield) 26-8-0.

On Wednesday the Astwood Fisheries Bluebell Pool Open was won by Dave James (Astwood) with a pole and corn catch of 23-7-0 from peg 12. Pete Eden (Astwood) was a very close second with 23-3-0, third Bryan Williams (Astwood) 20-4-0.

Woodlands View played host to the Annual Maver Classic with 84 hopefuls lining the banks of Arles, Deans and High Pools and the trophy went to on-site tackle shop owner Tony troth (Fisherman's Friend), who pole fished worm and casters at high peg 9 for 121-10-0. His shop assistant Steve Pickup (Fisherman's Friend) took second place with 112-8-0, third Howard Green (H G Tackle) 90-13-0.

At Moorlands Farm the Meadow Pool Open was won by Colin Pace (Bilston) with a pole, corn and meat catch of 96-12-0 from peg 56. Second was Clive Munslow (Preston Innovations) 90-0-0, third Paul Rowberry (Severn Trent) 84-13-0. The Starlets Veterans were at Trevs Pools, Hawford Bridge, Claines, for their Thursday event, which proved hard in the heavy winds. John Osman (Northfield) needed just 17-4-0 of small carp for victory by pole fishing corn at nine metres from Top Pool peg 19. Joint second were John Cole (Bewdley) and Clive Humphries (Bewdley) with 15-6-0.

Moorlands Farms Special Open was a big scoring event for Lee Richards (Fosters MG) who pole fished corn and casters at Bank Pool peg 18 for 153-5-0. Paul Foster (Fosters MG) was a few pounds further back in second place with 91-4-0. Third was Eric Banner (Edgbaston) 63-10-0.

Fridays Costcutter Open went one better with 188-13-0 taken by Andy Robinson (Moorlands) with pole and corn from Meadow Pool peg 9, second Eric Banner (Edgbaston) 103-4-0, third Colin Pace (Bilston) 83-7-0.

On Saturday, Telfish AC fished its Chairman's Shield at BAA Bidford right bank, where Northfield's Jim Pedley praised the late comers as the contest was delayed by 15 minutes and should have finished at 3pm. His 7-2-0 barbel caught at 3.10pm was a saving grace and boosted his catch to a winning 9-13-0 taken with ledgered red maggots from three pegs up. From the boundary fence, Bromsgrove's John Miller followed with 5-15-0, third Ian Gilmore 3-13-0, fourth yours truly Tony Brunn 2-7-8.

Northfield Conservative AC held its annual contest on Woodlands Views Top Pools where lots of small carp were caught. Cofton Hackett's Pete Lemon had over 150 fish with pole, corn and meat at peg 8 for a winning 62-8-0, second Harold Willey 58-12-0, third Bill Hateley 55-14-0.

The Woodlands View Deans Pool Open was topped by Mick Henshall (Fosters M G) with a pole and meat catch of 125-15-0 from peg 47, second Chris Hill (Fosters M G) 114-9-0, third Paul Sibley (G T I Midland Match) 80-8-0. Sunday's Deans Pool Open saw Welsh wizard Giles Cochrane pocket the £500 bonus peg money by taking a corn and meat catch of 103-6-0 from peg 60, second Mal Watson (Shakespeare) 82-11-0, third Jason Neath (Shakespeare) 73-4-0.

At Astwood Fishery the Smokey Joe Pool Open was headed by Chris Styler (Hewell Road MG) after drawing bonus peg 40 worth £155 and he took 37-0-0 of carp with pole fished worm and casters. Dave James (Astwood) followed with 31-2-0, third Chris Walters (Stevens Tackle) 21-7-0.

Wyre Forest Fishery Furnace Mills Mucky Meadow Pool Open was won by Martin Amphlett (WTS) from peg 32 where he pole fished chopped worms for 49-0-0. Second John Golding (Viper AC) 45-0-0, third Sid Taroni (Johns Tackle) 21-8-0.

Man of the moment at Moorlands Farm, Lee Richards (Fosters MG) had a Sunday double. First he topped the Day Time Open from Meadow Pool peg 51 with a pole and corn catch of 93-14-0 and in the last evening event this year he took 124-0-0 fishing same style from Meadow peg 35. Neville Graves (Walsall) was second in the daytime open with 79-14-0, third Gavin Daley (West Mids) 45-9-0. Steve Pearce (D C Lifestyle) was runner-up in the evening event with 110-7-0, third Andy Newton (DC Lifestyle) 103-0-8.

Trout catches at Silligrove Fishery took off this week with Kidderminster's Kevin Duffield taking 16 rainbows up to five pounds on buzzer flys. Joe Woodhouse from Kingswinford had 15 rainbows by alternating buzzers, damsels and white lures and Kevin Bailey from Stourton took ten fish up to six pounds. On a pleasure session on Silligrove's coarse pool, Stourport's Roger Lewis had a 92- pounds catch taking carp up to 12 pounds and tench to six pounds.
