A TRADITIONAL production of Puccini's last great masterpiece will be performed by the acclaimed Chisinau National Opera at Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre this week.
Turandot is the tale of a cold-hearted princess who is surrounded by suitors facing death if they fail to answer the riddle correctly.
The opera has been a firm favourite with audiences since Pavarotti's rendition of Nessun Dorma was used by the BBC for the World Cup in 1990.
The production features international soloists including Ludmila Magomedova as Turandot, with Chinese tenor Warren Mok as Calaf and Olga Condina as Liu.
The sets and costumes are designed by one of Russia's leading designers, Alexander Okun, and is presented by Ellen Kent and Opera and Ballet International.
Turandot is being staged tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm and tickets cost £14.50-£39.50 from the ticket hotline on 0870 607 7544.
