Woodrush 18 Warley 9
WOODRUSH cruised to victory in this friendly fixture, scoring a try in each half with no reply from the visitors.
The Wythall side took an early lead when winger Ed Lerna stole the ball from a maul near the touchline. It was fed to centre Paul Chance who ran in virtually unopposed from the half-way line. Jacko Maddocks added the conversion.
Woodrush's only weakness was a lack of discipline and Warley capitalised on the first of numerous penalty awards when Jamie Rodden converted.
Maddocks replied for Woodrush before Rodden again narrowed the gap to give a half-time score of 10-6.
In the second half Woodrush were again the stronger side with some powerful forward play. Jacko Maddocks stretched the lead with another penalty which was cancelled out by Rodden but Woodrush continued to pressurise the Warley line and following a succession of five metre penalties the ball eventually found Maddocks on the wing who touched down in the corner.
