WOODRUSH captain Paul Moore says he will be delighted with a mid-table finish after a year in the wilderness.

The Icknield Street side start their Midlands Four West South season at Southam on Saturday (ko 3pm) after pulling out of the division above on the eve of last season.

And with a young, new-look side schooled only in friendly action, Moore wants to consolidate this year.

Moore was appointed skipper after three years out of the game with knee ligament damage.

And he has tried to bring some experienced players into the fold for the league campaign.

Woodrush finished their pre-season programme with a morale-boosting 18-9 friendly win over Warley because they are not in the Intermediate or Junior Cups this season.

Second row Jamie Maddocks, scrum half Chris Pratt and and full back Nigel Simons are all ruled out for the league opener (ko 3pm) but scrum half Ben Honey will be drafted into the starting lineup.
