The Birmingham Regional Hospital Board at its meeting on Monday accepted subject to the Ministry of Health a tender for £25,135 for improvements to the casualty department, operating theatre and mortuary together with the construction of an out-patients department at the Smallwood Hospital, Redditch.
On the recommendation of the Finance Committee £17,500 has been provided in capital estimates for the scheme for 1951-52 and £4,000 for 1952-53.
Alderman Herbert Parker was appointed chairman of the hospital management committee for the Mid Worcestershire Group of hospitals to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr A Simmons.
