TWO mums with special needs youngsters have thanked the county council after their children's school escorts' jobs were saved.

Redditch Community Transport announced last week 15 jobs would be shed and county council contracts cancelled.

Among those facing the axe would have been the driver and escort who take Collette Kearney and Maureen Woollaston's children to and from Chadsgrove School, in Bromsgrove.

But now Worcestershire County Council has hired six minibuses and arranged for the same RCT drivers and escorts to staff the vehicles 'to avoid any disruption to the passengers concerned'.
