MOVES to implement speed restrictions along the A435 Alcester Road have been welcomed by MP for Studley, John Maples.
Mr Maples said he was delighted with Highways Agency plans to try to cut the accident toll between Alcester Road and Gorcott Hill.
The Redditch Advertiser reported last month how the speed limit along the road is to be reduced.
A letter from the Highways Agency to Mr Maples also reveals that a mobile speed camera site is to be introduced on the road and illuminated road studs fitted on bends.
The chevron warning signs are also to be upgraded and new hazard marker posts and 'gateway' features introduced.
Pedestrians will also be safer with the building of a new footway and crossing point at the Dog Island near Mappleborough Green.
The A435 has seen a number of injury accidents and fatalities in the last few years and people nearby have been calling for a long time for action to be taken.
