ON Tuesday, September 11, at 10.57am, I stood at the bus stop opposite Community House in Easemore Road waiting for a bus to go into the town centre for 25 minutes.
When one came at 11.22am, it was full and did not stop.
Being an 85 year old with great walking difficulties, I then had to wait a further 12 minutes.
I understand from other bus users that this is a general occurrence.
This bus stop is on a main arterial road which accommodates various services such as 57/58, 59/60, 61/62, 63 718 etc.
The 57/58 services are scheduled for every six or seven minutes at that time of day, according to the company's timetable.
As a former leader of Redditch Senior Citizens' Association, an organisation which agitated over a long period to coerce the council to provide a concessionary travel ticket available to retired and disabled citizens, which was granted and now pays large sums to the bus company annually, I am disgusted with what has happened to a once good bus service.
Will First Midland Red now make financial restitution to council taxpayers?
