A DRIVER who failed a breath test on his way home from a birthday party told police he had only a single pint of beer.

He had been called home for an emergency, his solicitor, Ruth Edwards, told Kidderminster magistrates.

Mark Flint, 31, of Catherton Road, Cleobury Mortimer, was banned for a year and fined £100, with £55 costs.

He admitted driving his car in Stourport with a blood alcohol reading of 103, against the limit of 80.
