Angelina and the Princess by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig (Puffin, £4.99)

TV production companies are forever on the lookout for the next "big thing".

There's money to be made in attracting a loyal band of junior viewers and firms are forever trawling through publishers' back catalogues for something that might work on the little screen.

One of the advantages of this, of course, is the books themselves are subsequently reissued in a blatant, but nonetheless welcome, "product tie-in".

It is for this reason that Angelina and the Princess - and a host of other Angelina treasures - has been reissued by Puffin. First published in the mid-1980s, these classic children's tales are being promoted with "Watch out for Angelina on CiTV" stickers on the front.

Now, I haven't seen the new Angelina series on TV, but if the shows are anything like the books, children are in for a treat.

Beautifully illustrated with engaging storylines, these classic mice stories will make welcome reading for any primary-age child.

Well worth the money.
