I WAS astounded to read the letter from G M Roberts and the harassment she and others have been subjected to while walking on Pitchcroft.

She is perfectly within her rights to do so. It was clarified some months ago that this land was a bequest to the citizens of Worcester for recreational purposes.

It was decided then to call this land Pitchcroft Park. I had thought this matter had been resolved. Unfortunately not.

The Operations Manager states that people should not walk on the grass because it stops it from growing.

What a ludicrous statement to make when on race days horses are galloping over said grass, not to mention hordes of people!

Arena Leisure has no grounds for discouraging people from walking this park except on race days.

Derek Prodger knows perfectly well that Pitchcroft is public land and should make Arena Leisure aware of this fact. This land must not be taken away from us by stealth.

We all remember that we almost lost Cripplegate Park. Had it not been for people power it would now be another store.
