A WORCESTER teenager who persistently drove a car while disqualified has been imprisoned for six months.

Stephen Paul Marsden was sentenced at Droitwich Magistrates Court yesterday after admitting three charges of driving while disqualified, one of driving without insurance and one of driving without a valid MOT certificate.

The court heard how Marsden had been caught driving while disqualified on Thursday, August 30, and was bailed by police.

He was then caught by police on two more occasions on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9.

Richard Wilkes, defending, told the court 19-year-old Marsden, of Grasmere Drive, Warndon, was a father of two young children, aged nine months and four weeks, and he had been driving to visit them.

He said Marsden was unfortunate because he had not had a great start in life, and had left school without any qualifications.

He also said Marsden suffers from mental problems.

District judge Philip Browning sent Marsden to a young offenders' institution for three sentences of three months each for driving while disqualified, two of which are to run concurrently.

He also banned Marsden from driving for two years and sent him to a young offenders' institution for 14 days for non-payment of fines.
