A WORCESTER woman was left needing hospital treatment for shock after burglars targeted her home for the sixth time in 10 years.

Jean Newman lost her engagement and eternity rings in the raid on the house she shares with husband Geoff in Warndon.

The devastated couple fear personal belongings containing memories for three generations of their family have been lost forever.

Burglars struck a fortnight after the Newmans, of Ambleside Drive, had celebrated a bingo win.

The husband and wife felt their luck had changed with the £1,000 jackpot.

But their joy was short-lived, and they were left emotionally shaken after sentimental objects were stolen last Monday.

Mrs Newman, aged 61, was rushed to Ronkswood Hospital, suffering from shock, while her family has been left sickened by the burglary.

The couple, too shaken to speak about the robberies which have taken place during the last 10 years, asked their daughter Teresa to speak for them.

"The last robbery we had was when my mother was attending to my nan when she was lying on her death bed," she said.

"While she was out they stole my grandmother's wedding ring and a necklace of a close family friend.

"This time they struck while my parents were at bingo. They must have been watching their every movement to try and get their hands on the winnings."

She said that in previous raids, watches, rings and war medals belonging to her grandfather were taken, items which could not be replaced by money.

"Everyone has been left gutted from these events, especially my younger sister," she added.

"She had to move out with me after the first burglary. She couldn't physically go back without feeling sick."

Now Mr Newman, 64, wants to offer a reward to anyone who can return the rings from this latest theft.

Anyone with information about the burglary, which took place between 7-9.30pm last Monday, should call Worcester police on 01905 723888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
