A DOCTOR who faced disciplinary action for offering an alternative to the MMR vaccine has been told there is not enough evidence to suspend him.

Dr Peter Mansfield offered single vaccines in measles, mumps and rubella at a fortnightly clinic in Worcester.

Worcester Health Authority had reported the GP to the General Medical Council and he was accused of putting children at risk.

But the GMC says the evidence uncovered so far does not show his behaviour is an immediate risk to patients.

An interim order stopping him from practising has not been executed while the GMC completes its investigation.

Dr Mansfield could still face disciplinary action once the investigation has finished.

Controversy has surrounded the clinics, run by Debbie Ryding of Ledbury.

"He's been vindicated for now but it's not the end of the row," she said.

Mrs Ryding is a co-founder of Desumo, the company which runs the clinics at Stanley Road Community Centre.

Hundreds of children have received the single immunisations from Dr Mansfield at the Desumo clinic in the past year.

"We gave all the parents both sides of the arguments so they could make up their own minds about the vaccinations," said Mrs Ryding.
