A WORCESTER mental health worker has been singled out from hundreds of temporary employees to be named Temp of the Year.

Tracey Moore, who worked at Kay's for 24 years before taking up a temporary position at the Worcester Mental Health Resource Centre at Merriman's Hill, will now represent Worcester in the national final in October.

Ms Moore was nominated by staffing agency Greenhill Recruitment, in Edgar Street, Worcester, for the awards, which are organised by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation.

"After working for 24 years at Kay's, Tracey was looking for some temporary work and joined Greenhill who immediately found her an assignment at the centre, in July last year," said spokesman for Greenhill Recruitment, Paul Dawson.

"After more than a year at the centre, Tracey's colleagues spoke so highly of her that she won her award and will now go forward to represent Worcester in the 'one in a million' National Temporary Workers Week competition."

Worcester locality manager for Worcestershire Community and Mental Health Trust, Hugh Thomas, praised Tracey's work.

"Tracey works in a unit that offers treatment to people, some with mental illness and others with drug and alcohol problems. In all her dealings with clients she displays tact and sensitivity," said Mr Thomas.

"Tracey is a warm person who enjoys very good relationships with all staff in the unit. She is a very competent, hard worker and, although a temp, throws herself into the operation of the unit as if she were a member of the permanent staff. Nothing is too much trouble for her."
