In reply to Mrs J R Craddock's letter (You Say, September 7) I can only apologise if she thought I was casting aspersions on senior citizens.

My only intentions were for people to be made aware of a possible con-trick. While I may have implied that the elderly are gullible, it is well-documented that the vast majority of people who are duped into giving access to bogus "tradesmen" are of senior status.

Unfortunately, there are those among us who get a little confused.
